Windows has stored the hosts file w/i same path since Windows 95  or so; 

"/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts"

Win X Clean Install Blues

The Microsoft Windows installation software didn't work; Each test machine Win Update Log said, "Win 10 Pro install failed"

Post Question to Microsoft was told win update corrupt & to do:

delete everything in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
wuauclt.exe /updatenow

; tried but ReportingEvents.log failed; file was open under System Rights

Had to use "MediaCreationToolx64.exe" to install on three test machines

In preparing for a clean install, ran "find_prod_key.vbs"

But each test machine has same prod key: "TY4CG-JDJH7-VJ2WF-DY4X9-HCFC6"

 "MediaCreationToolx64.exe" after creating a USB media install stick reminds to have a prod key

The test machines have not been activated. They might not be till after 30 day trial period where less than 30 days can put back OS within "\Windows.old"

Looks Reinstalling Windows within the Backup/Restore function is only choice for "Clean" Install till a valid product key is located/decoded.
